As many of you already know, I am also known as
"Zelda The Halloween Safety Witch"
Let's Keep it Safe and Fun for everybody!
Here are just a few tips for you:
1. Make sure young children are supervised during their haunts and cannnot trip on their costumes. Capes and gowns that hang beyond the ankle is asking for trouble. Trick-or-Treaters and friends should carry a flashlight and/or wear reflective objects if out and about after dark. There are some cute glowing wands and light-up necklaces at Wallmart for under $3.00 that might be fun.
2. Make sure if they are wearing masks that they can see properly out the eye holes.
3. Hand out only candy that is tightly sealed and wrapped ... NO fruit, loose coins or home made cookies ... and leave a light on outside your door until the candy is gone.
4. Do not set anything aflame too close to walking paths or doors ...many a lit torch and jack-o-lantern have set aflame those who do not really wish to be on fire.
5. ... and it really is best for Trick-or-Treaters to visit only the homes they know.
Inspect all candy before eating!
6. Drivers! Slow down. Be extra watchful of the little goblins and spooks who will be running about.
8. Make sure pets are secured during trick-or-treating hours, for their safety and for the safety of your spooky visitors ...and remember, chocolate is toxic to dogs and other domestic animals, do not allow candy to be shared with them.
7. ...And as should be at any time, don't get behind the wheel if you've been drinking!
